The Library's collection for children includes approximately 13,000 books, videos, audiotapes and magazines.
Every day, people of all ages use the children’s rooms of the Northeast Harbor Library. A mother with a baby, a third grader looking for information for a report, or a grandfather reading to his grandchild all find what they need at the Library.
Our collection for children and young adults contains approximately 13,000 books, videos, audiotapes and magazines chosen with the community in mind. The staff of the Library strives to make the children’s areas a comfortable, safe place.

School Services
The Northeast Harbor Library serves as the school library for the Mount Desert Elementary School. During their weekly visits students browse the shelves for their favorite fiction or research a topic for a report. The knowledgeable staff provides support to the teachers and students by choosing materials that support the School’s curriculum and in collaboration with classroom teachers, instruct students on the use of the Library, the appreciation of books and how to find good information.
