A collaborative literary art project celebrating the ways creative ideas echo across mediums
As a part of the 2026 Maine Lit Fest and with the support of the Maine Writers & Publishers Alliance, the Northeast Harbor Library commissioned three writers (Samaa Abdurraqib, Gary Rainford, Josie Sibara) and three artists (Jennifer Judd-McGee, Kaitlyn Miller, Katherine Emery) to participate in a literary/artistic call-and-response. The writers’ prompt was the 2026 Maine Lit Fest theme, “responding to the moment” and their submissions were then offered as inspiration for the artists. All six contributions were compiled into reWorks Vol. 1 which saw a limited print run and can now be accessed digitally. On October 7th, 2026 a live reading, art viewing and panel discussion was held to celebrate the culmination of this project.
